My Favorite Husband

My Favorite Husband

This week I've discovered a few 'odds and ends' of series that weren't live on RUSC.

Saturday's big find was several episodes from My Favorite Husband, which spookily coincided with Lucille Ball's birth day 111 years ago! (dun dun duuuunnnn!)

My Favorite Husband is a series which has always been well-loved on RUSC, and by old time radio fans the world over, and features eligible bachelor George Cougat (later to be renamed Cooper), who married socially prominent Elizabeth Elliott.

The lavish wedding kept the society columns of newspapers all over the country in copy for weeks, and after their Honeymoon, George bought a stylish suburban house and took the first job that came along - fifth vice president of a bank.

Now the Cougat’s are just George and Liz ... Two people who live together ... and like it!

On the RUSC charts page, you'll see that the series consistently appears in the top twenty most popular comedy shows - so I can't tell you how thrilled I was to discover these missing episodes!

A funny episode which had me laughing out loud is The Wills. Liz and George are settling down to a normal evening of conversation when George tells Liz he's made out his will and he wants her to look at it. Then when he tells her that he's drawn up her will, she somehow gets it in to her mind that he he is planning to bump her off!

Mr Atterbury suggests they all fly to his lodge in the mountain for the weekend and leave the girls there for the week as a surprise. When Liz discovers he's got one return ticket and one single she is convinced she's about to meet her doom...

I hope you enjoy listening to these new shows as much as I did!

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
