Mom Knows Best
Yes it is Mother's Day and Phil Harris has decided to make it a real holiday for Alice, well he does try, if only he'd listened to Alice and simply taken them all out for a meal. Whatever you decide to do today for you Mom just remember that Mom's always know best. Just read the following e-mail that I received from Rusc friend Kenny Scarborough:
"You have no idea how much I have come to love your web site! I'm 53 and a bit too young to remember when there was notelevision. But I remember my parents telling me that when they were young they used to all gather around the radio...and listen. My mother would always tell me that "radio" was so much better than TV!! I used to think..."Mom...I love you...but NO WAY is radio "better" than TV...no way!
Well, needless to say, as usual Mom was right! After a year or so I am hopelessly hooked on OTR. Every night, I grab my laptop, set it on my night stand, go to RUSC and dial up Dragnet, Johnny Dollar, Richard Diamond, Gunsmoke, put my headphones on, turn out the light and lose myself in the shows. I literally cannot sleep without it."
So you see that old adage is right, Moms really do know best. I have put together a list of shows for your Mother's Day listening below. If you are young and lucky enough to still have your Mother around be sure to share them with her too.
