Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend

What felt so strange earlier in the year is starting to feel like the new 'normal' now - and it will likely be the same for this year's Labor Day.

Union Square - the place where working class New Yorkers held their boisterous labor meetings, and the first Labor Day parade in 1882 - will likely be deserted.

What do you have planned for the Labor Day weekend?

Joy has been her usual creative self, and has been making some pinwheels, and thinking up some new cookout ideas instead of our usual hot dogs, cracker jacks and s'mores - and we've decided to do something we haven't done in years... We're going to head to a drive-in movie theater, eat popcorn and drink sodas from the safety and comfort of our car!

If you'd rather stay in the safety and comfort of your own home, then there's a couple of great Labor Day old time radio shows from the Great Gildersleeve...

The first one finds the man himself, brushing up his golf game in preparation for the annual Labor Day golf tournament at the Summerfield Country Club. The second is about Leroy and Marjorie trying to persuade Uncle Mort to take them to Grass Lake on vacation for Labor Day with The Bullards.

Although Summer isn't officially over until September 22nd, it appears we're all ready for a break from the monotony of being home all the time. However, from the current poll results it seems some of you are looking for a destination a little further afield than usual!

Have you voted in the poll yet? I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result...
