Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day

Well Father’s day is almost upon us and if you have viewed the statistics for the Who is your favorite radio father survey (on the right hand side of this page) you will see that the loveable Chester A. Riley in Life Of Riley has come out tops. If you want to see the rest of the results click on the View Stats link at the bottom of the poll.

I have to admit that he was my choice too. It's a show that I can still laugh at today. You know maybe us dads all see a little of ourselves in Chester. We all want the best for our kids and we all want to be recognized as a good father!

I have included a very funny episode today entitled Soapbox Derby which was originally broadcast on father’s day in 1947.

I will also add some episodes over the weekend of shows featuring your other favorite dad’s including Blondie, Baby Snooks, and Aldrich Family and if you would like to listen to an appropriate episode of Father Knows Best clink on the following show entitled Father’s Day Trip .

Continuing with our recognition of the talented Elliott Lewis I have added a show from the Suspense series. This two-part adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello was produced and directed by Elliott Lewis using original dialogue. Lewis took the lead part of Othello. Cathy Lewis, his first wife, played Desdemona and Richard Widmark played Iago . Interestingly, the three actors in the leading roles had never played Shakespeare before.

This is a wonderfully compelling rendition of Shakespeare’s story, once again demonstrating the versatility of Elliott Lewis.

So whatever you decide to do this father's day I hope that the shows we've added will help to make it a special day for you!

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
