Fourth of July Celebrations!

Fourth of July Celebrations!

This week hosts one of the most important days of the year, and one of the most important days in the history of America - our day of Independence.

It was 245 years ago, on July 4, 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was signed by the Continental Congress, and democracy was born. Today thanks to our forefathers we can all celebrate the freedom and spirit of America "land of the free and the home of the brave."

While the lingering effects of the pandemic mean that some of the traditional Fourth of July celebrations have been cancelled or postponed once again this year, there are many returning to some kind of normality with covid precautions in place.

Where will you be celebrating the holiday this year?

If you get a chance to listen to a show or two over the long weekend, the Cavalcade of America once again educates and entertains us with their story Portrait of an Author. It's about Thomas Jefferson, who more than any other figures in his time epitomized the American dream of freedom and self-government, and tells the tale of his part in the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

There is also a fabulous selection of patriotic shows Joy and I have put together to help you celebrate the 4th of July, on the special page linked below.

Independence Day Shows

Alternatively, if you'd like to listen non-stop, the 4th July RUSC Radio Station will give you everything you hoped for, and more! You can listen right now by clicking on the RUSC Radio on the left menu.

We also have a special page for Canada Day, which is celebrated on 1st July.

However you choose to celebrate your day, may Joy and I wish you and your family a gloriously happy Fourth of July!

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris

P.S. Everyone seemed to LOVE the last quiz on Father's Day, so I've put together a new challenge for Fourth of July. :-)
