Beating the January Blues

Beating the January Blues

The festive parties are over, the decorations are back in the basement, and we’ve eaten more than our own body weight in pies and puddings.

It was Shakespeare who apparently first said that what goes up must come down, and January can make even the most energetic of us feel down in the dumps.

Cold, dreary weather, lack of sleep and empty bank accounts make us miserable, and too much food and drink leaves us feeling sluggish and overweight.

The thing that always makes me fed up, is how the house feels when the tree and trimmings have all been taken down. After all of the twinkly lights have gone, it feels dull, and was it always so empty? (Although at least the utility bill will be cheaper next month!)

Something Joy and I always do to lift our mood is to ignore the Arctic conditions, grab the scarf and gloves we received for Christmas, and head out into the great outdoors. Even a brisk 20 minute stroll does wonders for the spirit - and anything that helps to relieve stress and boost your creative juices is worth a try, right?

And finally, who could forget what a terrific job we have, listening to old time radio shows every day!

In my opinion, some of the best feel-good series are, the Family Theater, The Jack Benny Show, and my personal favorite, Fibber McGee and Molly - which you might have noticed I have been adding LOTS of on RUSC recently.

What tips can you share to help someone feel better and brighter than ever in 2019? You can post a comment below, I'd sure love to hear them!

Happy listening my friends,
Ned Norris
