Musical comedy star Florence Wells tells young and frightened Barbara Laine that she’d better give up her boyfriend Tom or suffer the consequences. Later Florence phones Blackie and says she has to see him backstage at her theatre at 7.30. Blackie is there before the star arrives but she goes in to her dressing room without telling Blackie why she wanted to see him. Florence apparently does not leave her dressing room by door, window or hidden exit but fifteen minutes later she is found dead eight blocks away from the theatre.
