Today's story begins late at night in the kitchen of Squire Bradford in the little New England town of Middleborough, Four Corners. The year is 1782, the seventh year of the American Revolution, and Deborah Sampson has decided to leave the Squire's home, disguise herself as a man, and run away to enlist in the Continental Army to fight the British.
