The true story of the wreck of the Hesperus. It was a schooner, which sailed on an ill-fated voyage in winter, with the skipper who had taken his little daughter to bear him company. An old sailor begged them to put in at port for he feared a hurricane was coming, and he was right. When the storm arrives, the skipper ties his daughter to the mast to prevent her from being swept overboard, but nobody would escape the wrath of the raging sea.
