Aldersville was a crossroads hamlet containing a general store, a bar, a blacksmith's shop, and a dozen modest homes which were little more than cabins. In one of these, at some distance from the others, were three women and a child. The child, a young girl stood gazing from a window, and the women were busily sewing, when a furore outside revealed a band of Geronimo's braves attacking.
