Joan is the beautiful young wife of a tyrannical author who does nothing but order her about and complain about her. He is working on a new play and suggests that she uses some charm to get the publisher Michael Campbell to drop by their house. But Campbell loves her and wants her to leave her husband to be with him. Joan feels sorry for her husband and cannot leave him and when she realizes she loves Campbell she avoids him but eventually she has to make a decision for her future.
