One of the greatest love stories of all time, this is the story of Elizabeth Barrett, told against its background of Victorian England. The tale begins in London in the early nineteenth century, and at 39 years old, Elizabeth Barrett was already a poetess of some prestige, but she was also a bedridden invalid. Robert Browning was 33 years old, dashing, handsome - a poet of promise, if also of modest achievement.
