He had a little news stand on the corner of 49th Street and Broadway, and she worked across the street at Bonds orange juice counter. Every night at 7pm, she would walk past the news stand on her way to the subway - and every night at 7pm, he would look up from his papers and watch her, until she disappeared down the steps. Although each was well aware of the other, neither said a word. This went on for two years, until one afternoon, one of the fellows who hung around the neighbourhood decided to do something about it...
