At a downtown convenience store, several people are going about their business, when their lives are irrevocably changed forever by a hold-up. A detective at the precinct has asked to be moved onto the case, as a victim of the shooting, Eleanor Brody, was an old sweetheart of his, and she'd been trying to get in touch with him recently. It had been a difficult break up, so he tried to avoid talking to her, but she'd left a voice message for him, and she'd sounded scared. It was too late to help her now, but he could at least try and find her killer.
