Jimmy Stevens is back from England and calls in to see the Mayor. Jim has to go back to London next week to do some more broadcasting. He has brought a kid back to Springdale with him and hoped his mother would be able to look after him but his mother has a bad case of appendicitis so Jim asks the Mayor if he will look after him. The boy is only 11 years old and his father and mother were killed and now it is like he was dead inside. Jim has made the boy a promise that he will come back but meanwhile he needs an anchorage and Jim knows that the Mayor can be that.
