Today's story is a classic tale of the American old west. In 1875 when the story took place around Cheyenne, Wyoming, it was wild and populated by cow punchers whose lives were full of primitive joys and dangers. 

The tale begins on the outskirts of Cheyenne. The rains had swollen the creek leading into the town, and the stage coach with the new school ma'am, Molly Woods as its only passenger, was marooned in the water, slowly sinking. From the shore, tall and loose in the saddle, Jeff, the Virginian, rode wildly into the water...
