Nurse Anne Lee blames herself for a fatal mistake made by her sister Lucy, also a nurse, who falls asleep whilst nursing a little child with diphtheria who then passes away. Anne loses her job, and gets a new one at a poorly equipped country hospital, and there she falls in love with Dr. Prescott. But then a virulent epidemic begins...
