Phil and Alice have been invited to President Truman's inaugural and Phil has been invited to play at the inaugural ball in the evening. Remley is unhappy that he hasn't been invited to the party as even Alice's brother Willy has been invited! Remley tries to sabotage it for Phil when he ruins his suit by soaking it. Then the pair of them try to steal Willy's suit and ticket to the ball.
