The Gold King Mine was one of the largest ore workings in the vicinity of Pine Bluff. It employed an extensive crew and the mine itself was composed of a dozen tunnels radiating from a central shaft. At the time our story opens, young Dave Muncy, the foreman was directing operations within the mine, when suddenly there came the sound of a powerful blast!
