Grandpappy Spears angrily returned the deed which Lum had fixed up for him stipulating that if Mr Webster fails to spend $100,000 developing the Spears Spring into a health resort, the farm reverts back to Grandpap. He then got Squire Skimp to notarize the deed without that clause, and so Lum's work was all in vain...
