This is the final day of Squire Skimp's court battle against Lum and Abner, and so far the Squire has had things all his own way. In fact, one half of the defendants, Lum, is still missing after his mysterious disappearance on the first day of the trial. As we look in on the little community today, we find Grandpappy Spears on the witness stand at the courthouse. He is being questioned by the defence attorney.
