The story begins in Venice in the year of the 8th Crusade. It tells of the young man Marco Polo a merchant of Venice who travels across the world with his father and uncle to meet Kublai Khan the ruler of all Asia, worshipper of god and doer of goodwill to all people. Akmar his first prime minister is a false person who has stolen from the people and had innocent people killed for treason and it takes Marco Polo to have the courage to denounce him to Kublai Khan.

Marco Polo kept a journal of his travels day by day so that the young men of the future could hear the stories of the farthest journey ever taken by merchants of the western world.
