The train for Flatrock was speeding to the rolling hills that lay to the west of the town. Striving to make up lost time, the train raced on, scarcely slowing down for the dangerous curves which marked its course. It panted hoarsely up an ascending grade, and then reaching the top, rushed swiftly down the other side.
