Sol Jacobson is a partner with his brothers in a toy making company.  His brother Charlie suspects that someone is stealing their designs. He suggests they bug the phone of Bernie their designer but it proves nothing about him stealing anything but they learn that he is an alcoholic which Charlie thinks is grounds to sack him. They then go on to bug other suspects but what they learn is anything but what they were looking for and they come to trust nobody, not even each other.
