“If it’s loaded with dynamite and has to be kept confidential you’ve got a job for me, George Valentine” ran the newspaper ad. Then Valentine receives a letter which begins “Dear Mr. Valentine enough violence has happened to me in my house to realize that my sister a scatterbrained spinster of 42 should never have married a man so ruthless so charming and so much younger than she is. It could have only been for her money, money that could never be his until she dies. Of all things this charmer Cliff Lavar used to be a ballroom dancer all of 30. Mr. Valentine I want you to look in to his past then we can go on from there, Respectfully yours, Miss Lydia Carvell”.
