In the year 1792, France was seething with revolution. Although nominally still the king and queen, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were virtually imprisoned. To Marie Antoinette especially, the degradation was unspeakable. She longed for a return to the glamorous days when she wore the famous court jewels, gifts from a doting, spendthrift husband. Now, in her fall from power, she is a tragic figure. A terrifying woman, who will attempt by any means necessary to free her family and herself from imprisonment and inevitable death.
