Sir Lionel Barton has discovered the long  lost relics of El Mokan and has fled with them to Persia where his American associate Dr Vanberg has been mysteriously murdered. In Basra Nyland Smith has learned of Barton's activities and has connected them with the widely rumored rebirth of the prophet.
