"God, look at the peach trees in my meadow. If it keeps up like this, there won't be anything left of this valley. God, you've just got to make it rain. You've just got to!" John Farrow seems to spend all of his days praying nowadays. He's a peach farmer and the farm's struggling. His wife's been pretty edgy recently too, as times are tough, and she's so miserable, wanting him to sell so that they can move to the city and lead a 'normal' life. They've only been married for two years, so she's never seen the land when the peaches are plump and juicy, and John's desperate for just one season where she can see how wonderful life can be!
