Once upon a time a very shrewd advertising man said, “It pays to advertise,” and made himself a lot of money. And once upon a time Tom Verney a very shrewd young man said, “It pays to be in advertising,” and made himself a lot of trouble. It all began when Tom carried six feet of muscle, two and a half feet of shoulders and a letter of introduction in to the offices of Atwater and McGregor, advertising specialists.
