The great Gildersleeve reads in a magazine that "helpful hints make happy homes" and comes up with an idea for having a suggestion box in the home just like they have in the office. Leroy and Birdie aren't keen on the idea and certainly don't think of adding any hints about Gildy as he is head of the household. Gildy tells them they can drop hints in the box anonymously. However when Gildy gets a hint that hurts his feelings he wants to find out who wrote it.
