Today's story opens with eight year old Alan Fletcher asleep upstairs, while Joe and Alice Fletcher are reading in the living room. Joe opens the conversation with his wife to explain that he is going to hit the hay, as he has an early appointment in the morning with Harvey Ziegler, who he sold $30,000 of bonds to today. He left the bonds there, and now Alice is a little panicked that somehow they're not safe. Then their young son Alan has a terrible dream and after Dr Christian has calmed him, Alan tells him it's not the dreams that scare him, but that this dreams always come true. In this dream he dreamt that Mr Ziegler, the city treasurer hurt his arm stealing from his safe.
