In the bunk room of a ship, making its way in convoy back to the States from the South Pacific, a small group of marines on extended recuperation leave, were engaged in a game of chance, commonly known as 'rolling the bones', along with Butch, a talking African grey parrot. When one of the defense contractors is murdered, Butch is the only witness. Will he keep his beak shut? Or will he sing like a bird?
