Dorothy McGuire reprises her 1946 film role as the protagonist, Helen in this scary edge of the seat thriller.

When Helen'smother is killed in a house fire Helen is rendered mute, unable to speak. She leaves and gets a job in a big old house looking after the ailing Mrs Warren. Mrs Warren has two sons living with her, two sons so very different who hate each other one of them is her stepson. When a murderer is on the loose killing vulnerable women with afflictions Mrs Warren fears for Helen's safety and implores her to leave, asking her kindly doctor, Dr Parry to take Helen away from the house.
