Judge Knott, who owned the bank in Frontier Town, had been gone for two days, to inspect a piece of property east of Powder Horn River. He was on his way home, his fine horse crossed the river, and the railroad tracks were just ahead, but then disaster struck as shots rang out! The judge fell from the saddle, but even lying on the ground badly hurt, he managed to draw his gun. He saw the man who had ambushed him riding away, and he fired off two shots, feeling sure that at least one had found its mark. Now as he slipped into oblivion, he could only wonder who the man was, and why he wanted to kill him...
