This is the first part of a two-part story. As their skippers voice crackles over the dormitory intercom at the space academy cadets Tom Corbet and Roger Manning race out of their quarters and jump on the slide walk which will carry them to the academy administration building. This is the moment they have been waiting for special training duty on one of the many solar guard space stations.
