Sorrowful Jones is a heartless, stingy bookie, who accepts a little girl as a marker for a bet. All seems well until the girl's father is killed by gangsters, and Sorrowful is stuck with her! He soon learns that taking care of a child interferes with his free-wheeling lifestyle - and it results in a great story with a lot of laughs - as you'd expect with Bob Hope as the lead.
