Rocky Jordan had been trying hard for some sleep up in his room over the cafe Tamborine but the song which echoed up and down the Cairo street outside wan't helping. He got out of his bed and went to the window. The singer dressed in cap and uniform of the French Foreign Legion leaned against a building right below  him. Rocky shouted out to him to go home and the drunken man shouted back to him in French. He finally stopped singing and Rocky got back to sleep only to be woken up by police sirens. He looked out of the window and saw the French Foreign Legion guy again only this time sprawled face down in the curb, dead.
