The officer who worked tirelessly in this case Detective Lieutenant Joe Philkus begins the story by telling us, “ sometimes policemen make mistakes while only trying to do their duty. We police officers realize that circumstantial evidence may often convict an innocent man. While our officers find evidence of guilt they work tirelessly to uncover other facts. We work just as sincerely to prove of innocence as prove of guilt. Sometimes in a sincere attempt to serve justice policemen work hardships on individuals. Tonight the story tells of an investigation carried on by myself and my partner which nearly sent an innocent man to the gallows. We were doing our duty.
