Snakes in general are rather timid creatures and they usually flee at the approach of a person. All the same it is a wise approach to watch where you are going if you are out in the country, to avoid long grass and tangled undergrowth and to step on to logs and rocks and not over them. This story tells of one young woman who was bitten by the most venomous snake in South Africa, the Black Mamba, as she stepped over a rock.
