Jeff Ritter, although known to be guilty of several murders, had been jailed on a minor charge. With his short sentence almost completed he surprised everyone by breaking out of jail. No one, especially the Sheriff, could make head nor tail of it. Why should he break out of jail with less than a week to serve?
