Like most fathers Chester A. Riley is full of pride of his son Junior pride and never seems to learn that pride goeth before a fall. Right now Riley is at it again. He wants Junior to enter the Silver Gloves amateur boxing contest. Junior doesn't think he boxes good enough to be in the tournament. But Riley is so confident that he has bets with everyone that his son will beat his neighbor Gilli's son. Then Junior last minute refusal to fight because his girlfriend won't speak to him again if he does leaves Riley in a pickle and it doesn't look like there is going to be a Riley Versus Gillis fight, or is there!

At the end of the show William Bendix announces that this episode marks the shows one year anniversary, 52 episodes, and pays tribute to all involved.
