It is 1888, Sherlock Holmes had been approached by a most attractive young lady Mary Morstan concerning the disappearance of her father captain Morstan 10 years earlier, Since then she had been receiving through the post a large pearl and now the anonymous sender had expressed a wish to meet her.
In this concluding part of the story Dr Watson tells Sherlock Holmes that he is to be married to Mary Morstan.
