The struggle for political power has had many examples throughout history. Though the ambitious strivers were an emperor or a scheming member of a king’s court, the leader of a nation or a rabble-rousing fanatic. Thus it has been and probably as long as we remain human beings thus it will continue to be, for the average man’s healthy desire for advancement in the world is transformed by a warped mind in to an unclean vicious inhuman struggle that ignores all the average person represents. The Short Career of Dexter Coles is a story of such a struggle.
