Today, we tell the story of the noted poet and playwright Langston Hughes, born poor, in Joplin, Missouri. Langston was a boy with a notebook and a habit of writing about trains. He hadn't seen his father in so long that he'd forgotten his face; waiting and waiting for the train to bring his father, while he grew up back of the tracks in Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, Chicago, Charleston, Joplin - always waiting for the great day he would meet his father, even when he moved with his mother from town to town.
