Professor Sloane is still confined to his bed at Sister Simpson's boarding house with the bruises he received when the proposed Edwards observatory was blown off the hill, and so President Edwards of the school board has decided to take over the Professor's school duties, rather than put the board to the expense of hiring a substitute teacher. As we look in on the little community today, we find Abner in the store and library talking on the telephone.
