Sam Ruben and Associates insurance brokers had a $50,000 policy on Ed Julian that would be paid to his widow if anything happened to Ed Julian. Johnny Dollar along with every policeman in the country knew the name of Ed Julian who had quite a name in Chicago, Los Angeles and Hoboken. After getting out of jail three or four years ago he was now a very legitimate fellow. Sam was afraid that something was gonna happen to him describing him as a lousy long-sighted bet considering the enemies he made. Julian was living in San Francisco now and Sam Ruben wanted Johnny Dollar to go and get him to cancel the policy, which he took out in his real name of Eduardo Salkovetti.
