Mr Potter the financial editor for the Sentinel newspaper has been checking over the state sales tax department’s figures and he thinks that there is something wrong. He uncovers that Mr Fraser has siphoned $240,000 away. Brit Reid runs the story on the front page that the money is missing to force an investigation. However crooked Fraser decides he will protect himself by calling his own investigation which he intends to leave Potter dead and his own honest ambitious assistant Scanlon behind bars and himself in the clear.
