Joe Ryan a friend he hasn’t seen in twelve years turns up in the middle of the night with his 11 year-old little girl Ruthie to stay at Slate Shannon’s. Ten years ago Joe was the most promising lightweight fighter in the ring but quick money and women led him astray. As slate and Sailor were about to lock up a guy turns up to see Ryan but he doesn’t turn out to be the friend he says he is when he shoots Ryan dead before leaving…
