It's amazing to think that at the start of this story Ray Bradbury is referred to as a promising young writer and yet it is only recently that he died at the age of 91.

This is classic early Bradbury and for anyone who has never listened to his work on radio this is an excellent introduction, not just to Ray Bradbury’s thrilling writing style, but the classic science fiction of the early 1950s.

In a world where trips to Mars are common enough if you have the money, a young man dreams of taking the journey. Each night he dreams of nothing else. Theorello Bedoni has finally saved up enough money for one member of his family to go on a rocket to Mars but is it right if he takes the journey and leaves his young wife and family home alone and equally the others do not want to go alone. Will Bedoni ever realize his dream?

Narrator: Stanley Waxman
