Adam Stewart is preparing to marry his secretary when his attorney turns up. He has been investigating the disappearance of Stewart’s first wife who mysteriously vanished seven years ago. The Attorney, Mr. Kelvin has fixed it so that his wife can be declared legally dead leaving him to inherit her two million dollar fortune, but for his services rendered he demands a $50,000 fee or threatens to expose him to his first wife who he had located in an institution.
